Emelie Anna Glessner
Maryland, USA
Swedish-American painter, Emelie Anna Glessner, has been honing her painting skills for close to two decades. From Sweden, to California, and eventually to Maryland. She is largely self taught, although her independent journey was prompted by art classes in college.
The illustrative aesthetics of her work draw parallells with that of the Scandinavian painters of the early 1900’s, a time and place in art history which has been particularly influential to her artistic journey.
With oil paint on canvas, and the occasional guest appareance of acrylics and watercolor alike, her work is adorned with colorful portraits of children and animals, heartfelt interactions of a simpler time, expressing a sense of wholesomeness which is sometimes lacking in the world of today.
Emelie oftentimes touches on elements from the Swedish culture in which she grew up, while simultanously embracing the American countryside in which she currently reside, work, and raise her three children.
